Susie White,
who runs Chesters Walled Garden, is a garden writer, member of the Garden
Writers' Guild and has written several books on herbs. These include 'Teach
Yourself: Herbs', 'The New Plant Library: Herbs', 'Thyme in the Garden' and
'Origanum: the herb marjoram and its cultivars' for the NCCPG. She writes
regular articles for the Northumbrian magazine as well as freelance work for
the national gardening press. As Press and Publicity Officer for the National
Gardens Scheme in Northumberland, she has extensive knowledge of the gardens
of the North of England.
Gardens of Northumberland and the Borders
Susie's new book 'Gardens of Northumberland and the Borders' is the first to gather together some of the best gardens in this beautiful and varied region. Her evocative and informative text is accompanied by the stunning and atmospheric photographs of Simon Fraser with whom she has previously collaborated in articles for gardening magazines.
From the romantic castles of Chillingham and Lindisfarne to the dramatic quarry gardens of Belsay and Blagdon, from the grand parterres of Manderston to the herbs at Chesters and from the thought-provoking artworks at Little Sparta to the flamboyant cascades at Alnwick Garden, there is something for every type of gardener.
