Chesters Walled Garden - Group tour information

Group visits, talks and garden design

Groups can be given conducted tours of Chesters Walled Garden garden but these must be by prior arrangement. The minimum number is 15 people and the maximum is approximately 36 or coach size. A guided tour lasts about 45 minutes and you also need to allow half an hour for a chance to look in the nursery and shop or just to wander. The owner takes the group round the garden, pointing out the plants that are at their best in that month, highlighting uses of the herbs, history of the walled garden and the design ideas behind the planting.

Although minibuses can park in our car park, full size coaches need to drop their passengers at our gate and park nearby at Chollerford. Anyone booking a tour will be sent a map clearly showing where to park. We sell ices and cold drinks and advice can be given on nearby places to eat or have coffee. The price per head for a guided tour is £1.00 over the normal entrance charge of £3.50 bringing the total to £4.50 each.

Outside talks can be booked also; Susie White of Chesters Walled Garden is listed in the RHS Speakers Guide and has lectured widely, written two books on herbs and appeared on television many times. The most popular slide talk is on the herb collection at Chesters Walled Garden showing the uses, history and cultivation of a wide range of common and unusual herbs.
